Re-Scaling Existing Projects

I am trying to resize an existing project that I created in 1280 X 1024 resolution. There is a lot of Screen Capture which involves typing into form fields. When I rescale this project to 1024 by 768 to fit better on the output screen, it distorts the screen capture. The new output shows the typing on another part of the form and then the field being populated when the tab is pushed on the screen capture. I thought by keeping the Aspect ratio the same, it would reduce everything the same amount. Any Ideas?

    Hi everyone,

I may have a partial solution for some of you. After spending some time looking for what might be causing this issue, I noticed a correlation between file size and the severity of the defects within the scaled files.

I found that if I took the CP4 or CP3 file and deleted all but the problem slides, then saved it as a CP5 file and scaled the document, that I had few to no errors. This leads me to believe that CP5 is having trouble with larger file sizes. This does not work on typing text animations though, so I have no solution for that yet. It works (for me) on frame by frame animations that fail to scale correctly.

I have submitted the bug and my suggested solution to Adobe.

    Hello There,

This is a known issue and we will be fixing it in the future releases. Meanwhile, what I could suggest is to record only those slides again with 'Snap to window' option enabled. In that way, the recording happens to the rescaled size.

Can you please put a bug at https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=5

    Thanks,

This is exactly what's been happening to my projects in Cap 5.  I have found that if I re-record the exact same projects multiple times using the exact same settings, sometimes it works fine and sometimes it doesn't.  I upgraded from Cap 2 to Cap 5.  I never experienced this rescaling issue in Cap 2....ever.  Not sure what is happening in Cap 5 but I am now forced to record all of my training in an 800x600 window using scroll bars so I no longer have to rescale movies at all.

Exactly, and for my company it is impossible to fit our application in a 800x600 window. Totally lame.

Does seem to wok with the auto panning turned on. I still miss the full screen.

I am having this same problem. It seems to happen more to certain files than others, though I cannot identify any suspicious correlations. The only way I can figure out how to fix this is to replace the typing with a text animate, which is far from ideal and never looks quite right.

Even worse, this happens in areas of the presentation that have no animation or typing. I am attaching a screenshot for both examples.

In my case, I am converting files recorded in Captivate 3 to cptx files (captivate 5) and then scaling them.

    Grant,

This is exactly whats happening to me. I exported a Captivate 4 file into Captivate 5 and then rescaled it. All the Customer Support could tell me is that I needed to start over with a new resolution. I think there may be a way to box the SWF into a smaller area.

Interesting, though a little disheartening that the suggested fix is to redo all the work!
