I cannot find reference in the Captivate help or Manual to items shown below in RED.

With a Text Button in the section If user clicks on the button: you have a number of choices. Three of those choices provides another menu.

The three choices I am interested in are

  1.      Open URL or File
  2.      Open other Project:  with the top Project being offered by the system being this same project
  3.      Execute Javascript

When selected, each of these three activates an arrowhead with a drop down menu that contains:

    •          Current
    •           New
    •           Parent
    •           Top
    •           Continue playing project

Other choices do not activate this drop menu.

As I said, I cannot find reference to the items shown above in red. What are they all about?  What do they generate when selected? Just new html windows or do they have relevance to LMSystems.

Hi there

First, a tip on the forum software. When you have an image to display, please insert it directly inline using the Camera icon and avoid attaching.

You asked:

When selected, each of these three activates an arrowhead with a drop down menu that contains:

    •          Current
    •           New
    •           Parent
    •           Top
    •           Continue playing project

Other choices do not activate this drop menu.

As I said, I cannot find reference to the items shown above in red. What are they all about?  What do they generate when selected? Just new html windows or do they have relevance to LMSystems.

The options Current, New, Parent and Top are often seen with any type of HTML link. Basically, they deal with how the link opens. You are primarily concerned if you are linking to something from inside a frame of a frameset. Current means open the destination in the same frame the link calling it is in. New generally means open in a New window. This may open in a new browser instance or a new tab, depending on how the browser has been configued in Windows and what version of the browser you have. (In older browsers, a new tab probably isn't an option. ) Parent means the parent frame of a frameset and Top allows you to escape the frameset completely and present the link destination so it occupies the entire area the frameset formerly occupied.

The Continue playing project option is not available until you choose New, Parent or Top. If the option remains enabled, clicking the object will release the pause and the project continues playing. This is often undesired action if opening in a New window, as the user may return to Captivate after interacting with the new window only to find the movie has played merrily along and reached the end.

As you may surmise, these options aren't likely to have any effect on content presented from a LMS. But I suppose they may, depending on exactly how that occurs with the LMS.

Hopefully this helps... Rick
