Real Drag and Drop

I am evaluating Captivate 5 for  the sole purpose of having this component. I am shocked (and really  angry) to find that Adobe still has left this fundamental function out  of Captivate!!!!

If anyone here can build a flash widget for me to use with  Captivate 4, I will gladly pay you! I would like to get the widget in  both AS2 and AS3 as I am sure to need both.

Here is what I need.

1. It must  be a quiz question.

2. I can use any background image I choose.

3.  I can use any image I choose for the drag and drop.

4. I can drag  the image during design to the exact location I want on the screen (or  type in the coordinates as well).

5. I can define the drop area to  any part of the screen I wish.

6. While the image is being moved  around the screen everything is visible just like when you normally drag  items.

7. I can use my own image file as the mouse cursor during  the drag.

8. If the image is dropped in the wrong place, the  draggable object pops back to it's original position. And I have the  option of defining a "wrong" followup action.

9. If the drop is in  the right place, I define this action as well.

10. Of course, it  should have all the normal property options like, amount of tries  allowed, etc...

It must be true drag and drop. You drag it and release it.

Thanks,

From  a Frustrated User

You may want to look into "Flypaper" it has a template for a drag and drop scenerio and you can also create your own very easily with their tool without having to know flash.

I understand your frustration but this was discussed in great detail during the Captivate 5 beta cycle and it turns out that creating a "true" drag & drop widget is insanely complex. The reason for the complexity is that no two drag and drop scenarios are 100% identical. Therefore the widget needs to be able to create a drag and drop scenarrio with one object and one target, but also a drag and drop scenario with five objects and eight targets. Furthermore it is complicated to handle the images and drop targets associated with a drag and drop scenario.

A very skilled AS3 developer who was also in the beta test cycle for Captivate 5 did create a drag and drop widget in AS3 for Captivate 4. If I remember correctly the code for this widget was several thousand lines and this was a "static" widget that was created for one specific drag and drop scenario.

To create a dynamic drag and drop widget that would be able to handle multiple scenarios and let the captivate developer easily handle images, targets, completion rules, feedback messages, points etc. is an enormous task that would require several hundred programming hours.

I hope someone proves me wrong and comes up with a great drag and drop widget.
