Question

Real nubie question

I was given a project by my boss: Convert 15 booklets into online extension courses using Captivate. Not having a clue about Captivate, I watched a bunch of Lynda.com vids until I had a better idea about the s/w.

I really thought it would be a slam dunk converting all my Indesign or PDF versions into Cap. I see now that it can't be done. I really know so little about the program that I can't get real upset about this limitation.

So my question is, how can I get all the text and images from my INDD files into Cap?

    Hi there

Unfortunately there is no direct avenue I'm aware of to bring In-Design or PDF directly and easily into Captivate. Likely you will find you need to just do lots of copying and pasting.

    Hi Rick,

Many thanks for the quick reply! I submitted my feature enhancement request so we'll see.

For now, I'll just hit the Lynda.com tuts (we have an annual subscription).

    regards,

    Alfred

Being new to Captivate myself, I would export each book as JPG images to a folder, these will be named sequentially- then import all into Captivate using the Image Project template, resize or crop as needed (this is similar to import PowerPoint presentation). Add click boxes or other controls as necessary to each slide. That would be the fastest way to get the books into Captivate.
