Hello

I am about to buy a new computer and would like to make sure it runs Captivate well. The reason why I am posting here is because my current computer does not work very well with the software I use and Captivate. I have an HP ZD-8000, with a P4 3.24Ghz processor, 2Gb RAM and a 256Mb ATI Mobitlity Radeon X600 video card. I am trying to capture a high end 3D CAD program and the biggest problem I have is that whenever I drag or close a dialog box, it leaves behind a shadow that effectively erases the background. I cannot seem to fix it (any further ideas appreciated), and definitely want to avoid it in my next setup.

Can anyone please recommend or at least tell me the specs of the computer you are succesfully using Captivate 2 on.

Thanks and I look forward to your replies.

Cheers,
spritc.

I am thinking about renting a desktop with an ATI Radeon Express 200 Integrated Graphics. No foreseeable problems?

    Cheers,

    Thanks for you reply Rick

It is good to know that my setup should work. It's really quite frustrating that it doesn't though. If you have any answers to this particular problem (mentioned here http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=467&threadid=1175441) I would be willing to try anything you may offer. I am considering a complete reformat of my laptop, just to make sure I can get Captivate to record my CAD application without this ghosting phenonemon.

Thanks to you and anyone else who may relate to this problem and/or help solve it.

    Cheers,
    spritc.

    Hi spritc

Sorry to hear of your issues. From my perspective, your machine should be more than adequate. I'm running Captivate 1 and 2 side by side on a Dell Inspiron 6400 1.66 GHz Centrino Core Duo and 1 Gig of RAM. If I've looked at the right thing, my video is Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family with a memory size of 224 MB. (I'm not sure if that means it has its own memory of that size or if it's consuming that much of the 1 GB shared space.)

Aside from the issue others see where the menus flicker after inserting animation, it seems to do fine (and I keep way too many other applications running alongside).

Not sure if this helps, but you did ask for specs of others that seem to run Captivate 2 successfully.

    Cheers... Rick
