Record an iPad app as a software demo?

The Search feature of this forum software isn't behaving today, so apologies if this has already been asked....

When capturing my iPad on the Mac, the capture is in video mode. Is there a way to capture still frames instead, like slides in a regular software demo? I'm using Captivate 9 for Mac running El Capitan, and an iPad Air running iOS 9.
