Question

recording audio from line-in

When I start recording, Captivate switches automaticly from line-in (where my input device is) to microphone. Captivate forgets my configuration, which I set under "Audio" / "Options". How can I get live capturing using line-in? When I edit single foils line-in works fine.

Thanks. Mathias.

    Thanks, Larry

I'm using Version 1.0.1. Build 1291 - the newest update in German.
I will contact support and complete this topic, if there is a solution.

    Hi again Mathias,
The "line-in" problem was noticed a long time ago but since I use a standard headset-microphone-to-mic-port configuration, I am uncertain whether this was fixed with the "dot" release last year (upgrading version 1.0.0 to 1.0.1).

Check to be sure you have the last release, Mathias. "Help > About" will give you the version and build numbers ... if you are using the English language localization, your build should be #1418 (vice #1188 I believe). If it is not, you might benefit from the free download for the last release.

P.S. If you are using a localization for another language, you'll have to find out the current situation for that version - sorry, but I'm only familiar with the English-language version. I imagine that Adobe Support might be able to help, in that case. . .

    Hi Mathias,
"Line-in" is problematic because it isn't actually designed for a microphone. It is designed for input from an amplifier or other device . . . and Captivate needs direct access to the microphone so it can properly define software setting for the installed microphone.

Use the "MIC" port instead of line-in. Or is there a reason why you can't do that?

    Hi Larry,
we use the signal of a mixer for an amplified microphone and other sources. The level of this signal is to strong for the microphone input. Do you know about a way tho change the default recording port of Captivate permanently? Maybe a change in the windows registry?
