Recording Free Text Responses

Hi,

I have answer fields that are 'free text' however need to be in specific locations on the page and hence cannot use standard quiz features of an LMS. Does anyone have a solution as to how I can create 'quizzes' that are all free text response fields that I can export as SCORM and a teacher then can mark the responses?

I have tried creating a form PDF but then a student has to download  a document save and upload (not ideal) Any ideas?

It sounds like you need to track the responses in the cmi.interactions which Captivate can do. The teacher would then need to look at the "Gradebook" in the LMS for each student. There is not a way for a teacher to interact with a SCORM course natively to pass/fail a student based on their interactions in the course, some LMS's may offer this capability, ours does not.

You could also use a blended approach using a forum in your LMS if available. Evaluation of essays is always difficult in an online environment.

Double question: what are the possibilities of the LMS, some can report variables, not all?

Both TEB's and Scrolling Text Interaction (or TextArea widget) have associated variables, if they can be reported to your LMS, you are OK.

Marking the responses is in that case a functionality of the LMS as well!
