Recover lost projects (corrupt cached files) - Possible fix

A major project of mine would not open due to me recently moving the cached files. Somehow this "corrupted" the project files and I could no longer open the project. Went through a very lengthy process to work with Captivate support. They attempted to zip the cached files and then rename the extension from .zip to .cptx. This did not work although I am sure it has worked for some people.

I thought all was lost and hundreds of hours out the window until...

I chose to reveal hidden files where I saved my "now corrupt" captivate project file and found the .bak file for my project revealed within that folder.

I simply changed the file extension from .bak to .cptx and the project opened with all saved work with the exception of maybe my last 5 actions.

Again, just thought I would share since I didn't seem to locate the answer here and support never went through this option for me. Good luck.
