Remediation with Knowledge checks...

I've been testing Captivate 9 with the new knowledge check questions (Yayyy!) but I'm having a problem getting the remediation to work? If I set the question to 1 attempt and failure to jump to the slide where the material is. Adding a button to that slide, with the action set to "return to quiz" should take the user back to the knowledge check question, correct? I was thinking that button doesn't show up in regular previewing of the course, based on Captivate 7-8... but the button shows up in Captivate 9. Is that the correct way to jump to the slide with a knowledge check slide anyway? I saw a tutorial showing jumping to the info slides grouped together... is there another way to do that now?

I cannot offer you an answer that is double-checked because exploring the Knowledge slides is still on my ToDo list as you could read on my blog.

Remediation for regular question slides in previous versions worked this way:

  • you need a Next button on the content slide
  • for this button you set the action 'Return to Quiz'
  • when the user gets on this content slide from a non-question slide, the Next button will have the normal 'Go to Next Slide', even though it doesn't have that action
  • when the user gets on this content slide from a question slide, the Next button will navigate the user back to the Question slide where he can edit the question: beware, he needs to answer the question correctly because otherwise he will be navigated back to the content slide On Failure

I've just been doing some testing, and Return to Quiz doesn't seem to work with Knowledge Check, so I used Go to the slide last visited instead and it worked fine.

Hi DHR,

I'm looking into this myself at the moment. I did quiz remediation using Captivate 8 a few years back and set a variable to be 1 on entering the quiz page. Then, put an action on the return button on the material slide to only show if that variable is 1.

On Quiz page On Enter Slide Assign <variable name> 1

On Material page On Enter Slide conditional advanced action If <variable name> greater than or equal to 1 Show <button name> Else Hide <button name>

Like I said though, this is just re-doing what I did in a previous version of Captivate. I'd love know know if I didn't have to go through all this for each remediation question too.
