Rescaling and inserting the resized recording into a bigger size captivate template

Hi  !! We are using Captivate 7 for recording our software .

As per our client's requirement, we needed to insert a 900x675 window size in a template of 1024x768.

For this, we first recorded the software simulation capturing the full application and then resized it to 900x675. Everything worked fine until we inserted the rescaled slides into a template of 1024x768 size..Post insertion, it shows running text entries / drop down menus floating at a wrong places. The screen gives a distorted looks and textboxes and drop down just float anywhere . Please give us a solution for this as this is a customer deliverable to be worked upon urgently.@

I am not able to completely understand your query....your template is 1024*768 and the window size you wanted was 900*765. If the software simulation was recorded in 1024*768 and you then resized it it will resize the entire project to 900*765. I will try placing a flash file container in my original template and then placing the software simulation flash file in it. Although I am not sure I completely understand what you are looking for.

Hi aashini

I will tell you the whole thing in steps :

1. I recorded a new software simulation capturing the whole application screen whose dimensions came out to be 1280x945.

2. Then I rescaled the whole thing to 900x765 size.

3. There was another file of size 1024x768 into which I inserted the(Step 2 recording) 900x765 recording. This is issentially being done, as we want to make a file having a template with borders at the top and bottom ends of the screen . Since, earlier, when everything was rescaled to 1024x768, some part of the screen was getting hidden in the borders of the template. So to avoid this, our customer suggested us to insert a smaller sized screens into a 1024x768 template.

4. Doing this, the border problem gets solved but new problem has come which I am talking about. A copy of  text entry boxes and the drop downs gets  displayed at wrong places on the screen.

I hope that clarifies my query..!!

Rescaling is never a good solution. Maybe this approach could be better: Create and Use a "Knockout" Master Slide - Captivate blog  It was written for an earlier version but I checked and it is still valid for CP7.
