Reset and Retake Course

Currently using Captivate 8 and have had to remove the quiz from the captivate file because we were having too many people have issues and skipping questions.  Our quiz has now been built directly within the LMS however I still need the training portion to be in Captivate.

We have a project with about 62 slides which include 6 knowledge check questions which are graded with 0 points (5 quiz questions and 1 drag and drop).  I need to figure out how to allow students to retake the course and have the knowledge check questions reset when they start back at the beginning.

The test is built outside of captivate and students are allowed 3 attempts to pass this test.  They can choose to review the material by taking the course again.  Currently if students start the course from the beginning they get stuck on the knowledge checks if they originally answered the knowledge check correctly.

If when they come to the last slide can I have a retake course button which takes them back to the first slide and resets the CpQuizAttempts to zero?  Will this work?

Thanks

Correct answer Lilybiri

The only category of system variables that is not read-only is the Movie Control category.

All quizzing system variables are read-only, including cpQuizInfoAttempts. If you want to reset such a variable to its default value, you have to close the course and relaunch it.

Drag&Drop is a different beast from normal question slides: when you leave the slide, and come back it is always reset.

Since you are talking about so few question slides, why not create custom question slides in order to have full control. Some examples:

Thanks Lilybiri

I think the easiest for me would be to change these multiple choice knowledge check questions to drag and drops as well then they would all reset.

I will review your blog posts you mentioned as well and maybe I can use those options in another course (when I have more time!)

Appreciate your help!
