Question

Resolution Size

This is my first time using Captivate. I've read the some of the blogs in regards to the resolution size. The resolution that I would like to use is 1024 X 768. I've been told that the resolution should not exceed 790 X 545.

I've selected custom for the screen size but that does display my full screen that I want to include in the presentation. What do I need to do before I get started? I do not want to resize the project after the fact.

Please Help!

    Hi Anne -

I tried that previously and it does not work. It does not capture the full screen. I would like to display the full screen and not only a portion.

    Thanks for your input.

Captivate can certainly record at sizes larger than 1024x768, but if you
deliver the result through a web-browser to a user's monitor that is set
to 1024x768, then they will have to scroll the browser window up and
down, and side to side, to see the entire movie - since the browser
window and toolbars will take up a bit of that 1024x768 space.

Hence the suggestion to record at no more than 790x545, so there is
space left over for the browser interface, toolbars, etc (often referred
    to as 'chrome').

So, you launch the application you want to record and it fills your
1024x768 screen. If you set Captivate to record just 790x545, it doesn't
record the full screen you want it too, right?

If that's all true, the easiest possibility is to resize your
application so it is NOT full screen and fits within the 790x545 custom
    size. Is that possible?

    Thanks Erik -

If I resize my application...I will have to scroll to presentment my project. I will attempt to keep my current resolution 1024 X 768 and resize my project at the end. Hopefully that will work.

    Hi Deannruss -

Have you tried selecting your recording size, then in the dropdown "Optionally, select a window you'd like to record", choose the window you want. Then click the Snap to Fit button. Does that help?
