Results for "matching" questions

Hello,

I am using a "matching" question on a quiz for my students. I have set it up so that there are 5 items in column 1 and 5 in colum 2. In other words, they have 5 words to match with 5 definitions. As it is now, they only get the points if they have all 5 correct. How can I adjust it (is it possible?) so that they get a point for any that they match correctly, even if it's not all 5.

Thanks so much. Grateful for your advice and patience with a newbie!

Jill

Hello Jill,

For the moment this is not possible with the default questions in Captivate. If you want partial points you will have to construct the question slides yourself, using standard objects, user variables and advanced actions. That is a lot of work. And it will not be possible for Matching questions to have the drag-functionality, unless you buy a widget that is created for that purpose by InfoSemantics.

I plan to post another blog post (not the next one, that will be about TextArea widget) about using widgets to create Matching questions with partial scoring. To have an idea about the work such custom question demand, perhaps have a look at those blog posts where you will find links to articles that explain in depth the work flow:
