Question

I have 5 projects in an aggregator using Captivate 7. How can I use the user variable captured in 1st project to print out a certificate of completion in project 5?

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. Unfortunately our IT branch locks down all installations so I guess I'll have to figure out another way.

You don't understand how widgets work.  You don't need to install them in the same way as other software applications.  You just place the purchased widget somewhere on your hard drive and insert it into your Captivate project from there.  Your IT department is not required to install anything.

Okay, that is good to know. I want to pick your brain to make sure the widget is what I need. In addition to the "username", we also have 5 section completion status that needs to load on each project.

  1. Project 1 - Username
  2. Project 2 - Unit 1 complete
  3. Project 3 - None
  4. Project 4 - Unit 2 complete
  5. Project 5 has a landing page that branches to 3 separate units (Units 3, 4, 5)
  6. When a user completes all 5 sections, they are directed to the second half of the Project 5 and the Completion Certificate

We had to break up this project into 5 sections since we wanted to have quizzes throughout but now we lost the ability to track completion status of each unit.

We tried to unlock TOC at the end of each section but for some reason TOC remains locked.

Would this widget allows us to unlock TOC for all aggregated projects?

Since you are obviously using SWF output, the only way to do this is to use the CpGuru SaveData and LoadData widgets.

http://www.cpguru.com/save-and-load-data-widgets-for-adobe-captivate-updated/

I am reliably informed that they also work in Cp8 or 9.

Now if you were asking about HTML5 output...there's another very interesting solution in BETA testing at the moment which will change everything. Stay tuned.
