Retry Messages block feedback won't stay deleted

Hi hope someone can help.

Using Captivate 9 on Knowledge checks quiz slides with Multi-choice, Single Answer or Sequence the Retry message will not stay deleted.

The quiz property settings are:

  • No. of Attempts: 3
  • Retry Message is grayed out with - in the check box and cannot be modified
  • Failure Messages: 3
  • Last Attempt: Continue

I set up the KC slides with 3 feedback boxes and all was fine then whenever I save the file or publish Retry shapes reappear on the KC slides and the Feedback boxes no longer appear anymore in the published HTML files.

If I delete the Retry shapes then the Feedback shapes work again until the next time I save or publish when the Retry boxes come back again, arggghhh!!!

Any help gratefully accepted, or maybe this is a bug?

I'm sorry to say but I've come to the conclusion that KC questions are more trouble than they are worth.

I gave up and just used standard question slides.

Unfortunately I have no answer, but this is also an issue for me. I have Windows version 9.0.1.320 and NO updates pending.

NOTE: I have even deleted the Try Again placeholder from any and all Masters that use it. It will reappear on my knowledge check slides(but not the Master!!??), and once it does, it supersedes the other Incorrect messages that are  designed to appear.

I have not been able to determine any sequence, such as adding a slide, a particular change, etc. that causes it to magically reappear on my slides.

The fact it supersedes the other incorrect messages is the biggest pain in the ...

Since it is a subset option of the Infinite Attempts feature makes me believe that is where the fault lies. I will file a bug report. Somewhere.

I have the same setup as reported by other users,

  • Shuffle Answers
  • Captions: Incorrect and Incomplete
  • On Success: Go to the next slide
  • No. of Attempts: 3
  • Retry Message is grayed out with – in the check box and cannot be modified
  • Failure Messages: 3
  • Last Attempt: Go to the next slide

Can you check the exact version number? Latest version is 9.0.1.320.

Default design of Knowledge slides is indeed to have Infinite attempts and being able only to proceed after the question has been answered correctly. I will see if I can reproduce your problem, but first want to know if we are using the same version.

I tried to reproduce your setup: 3 attempts on question level, 3 feedback messages and Retry message unchecked. Saved, reopened and everything was working as expected. There is no Retry message anywhere.

This is happening to me also. I have version 9.0.1.320.

I am creating Knowledge Check slides with a fixed number of attempts and edit the feedback text to what I need. If I add a new KC slide, all of a sudden, the other KC slides now have a "Try again" feedback (gray box with white text).

I then have to go back an delete this box on EACH KC slide. I can save and Publish and all is fine. BUT, if I add another KC slide, it happens all over again.

??????
