Role specific question pools

I would like the learner to be able to select a button that determines their role (assigns a role specific variable value) and then see quiz questions that are specific to that role. The quiz is mandatory (cannot be skipped) so I am using the "Answer All" quiz setting (Quiz > Quiz Preferences > Settings > Required > Answer All) which means all question slides must be completed in order within the course (I cannot separate the 3 quizzes) . I was thinking I could create a separate question pool for each role and then have Captivate display the pool that corresponds with the button that is selected. Is this possible and how?  If not, is there another way to achieve this result? I am using Captivate 7.  Thanks

If you insert a random slide, you have to indicate the pool, there is no way to base this on a condition.

An easy way could be to have each of the quizzes (with their question pool) in separate files, an open the appropriate quiz file by a conditional action that checks the role. However, be careful with the Required option set to 'Answer All'. There are other ways to force the user to answer each question: drag the Next button (which is a Skip button) under the clear button, disable backwards navigation and the playbar. In that case the user will only be able to advanced using the Submit button, which answers the question.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I will explore these options.

Hmmm, in thinking about this, why couldn't one use the Branch Aware feature?

Have two different Question Pools. One for each role. Then have the Pretest question be a True/False with some customizing. Depending on the answer, direct the user to the appropriate branch where random quiz questions would simply point at the appropriate Question Pool.

Lieve, is there anything you could see that would prevent that from working as Tracy is wanting?

    Cheers all... Rick

I didn't mention Branch aware because:

    1. it limits navigation possibilities a lot (see article Branch Aware Quiz - Captivate blog)
    2. the file size will be pretty big because all random slides have to be in the same file
