rollover slidelets disappearing after a few secs

HI there.

On my menu slide I have a set of rollover slidelets that allow users to hover over a topic to learn more about it (a caption pops up).  If they click the menu itme they are taken to that place in the e-learning module.

My problem is that all but 1 works perfectly.  The offending slidelet works to a point but as the user hovers their mouse over the menu item the caption appears but disappears after a few seconds.  All the captions stay on screen until the user moves their mouse away.

I have tried deleting and re-inserting and its still giving me the same issue.  I have compared properties with the other slidelets and they look identical.

Any ideas?

I see. Just tested this out, not totally sure that it will work but worthwhile trying:

    • created a shape, that you can use as a text container and activate 'Use as button', the Success action was to jump to a slide: don't forget to activate the Pause in the Timing accordion for the shape button
    • on top of that shape I put a rollover area for a caption

I was able to roll over as many times as wanted, the slide was paused by the shape button and when clicking on that shape the Success action was performed.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Rollover slidelets tend to cause problems, sometimes difficult to see the logic for those problems.

Since you talk about a 'caption' why didn't you use a Rollover Caption? Or do you need to have images as well on?

You checked the properties, so I suppose they all are set to 'stick'. Are perhaps some overlaps on the slide for those slidelets/rollover areas?

And please, since you are new, it helps if you tell the version you are using. The exact number please (6 has 3 versions out).

    thanks for the reply.

The reason I went for a slidelet was that I wanted a combination of both a rollover and a click.  I couldnt see any other way of being able to show a caption when hovering and being able to jump to another slide upon clicking.

I now have captivate 6.0.1.240 so not sure if there is now a new way to do this.
