Roundtrip captions in Captivate 6

Sometimes when I roundtrip captions in Captivate, the captions don't update when imported back into Captivate. At other times, they do update. It doesn't seem to matter whether I leave Word open or close it. Is this a bug or is there some trick to this that isn't obvious?

    Hi Jay,

I know, had the same issues with Captivate and then suddenly it started to work and never could pin down the real cause. Same problems with CP5, 5.5 and 6. Regret that the real cause was never found, even had a logger installed to track it down.

Sometimes it helps if you insist: try to import a second, third time. For me it works better when Word is closed. And be sure never to change the filename of the original CP and Word-files, nor the path. Which version of Word are you using? Did you try to save it as doc, not docx?

    Hi Jay,

I think you meant MS Powerpoint not Word, right?

In cases where you do not see the caption getting updated from source file. Just go to Library and notice if you have a Red Dot next to you Powerpoint Presentation, right click on it and hit update and it should align it back.

Also, make sure you have closed the PPT(X) file before updating.

Can you tell the captions that do not update, are they part of a new slide in the source Powerpoint, incase you have deleted a slide from source and added a new slide there with the same content, it might look the same, but for Captivate it would be a new slide.

    Thanks,

Actually, I do mean Microsoft Word. Choosing File > Export > Project captions and closed captions. After editing in Word and saving the Word doc, in Captivate choose File > Import > Project Captions and closed captions. When doing this procedure, nothing is added to the Library.
