Question

Saving after import locks Captivate 2

I'm required to use specific slides in some training. I've already created my project and am now trying to import the slides. The import itself takes longer than I would expect. But when it's time to the save the project after the import, my CPU usage jumps to 100% and Cap2 stops responding. I've been sitting here watching it 'run' for nearly 30 mins. It happens when I import into my new project, and when I try to import my project into the smaller project of just special slides.

Any solutions? It's becoming a real drag to have to re-create slides every time my pm makes a change.

And sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.....

I, too, have had this problem multiple times...just with saving. The bigger the Captivate 2 file is, the harder it is to save. It will go "Not Responding" on me and then when I use task manager to shut it down, it doesn't save the last changes...very frustrating!

Hi lizzybell75

Where is your project stored? Is it on a network drive? If it's on a network drive (typically any letter other than C:) try moving it to your local drive.

If it's already on your local drive, is the path very long? For example:

C:\Documents and Settings\Rick Stone\My Documents\My Adobe Captivate Projects\ARTS\ARTS.CP

If so, try shortening to something like:

C:\Projects\ARTS\ARTS.CP

Cheers... Rick

Hello M066,

What do you exactly mean with importing slides: powerpoint, or captivate slides? I never experienced problems like you discribed.

Maybe it's an alternative to open two sessions of Captivate? You can cut/copy slides between those sessions.
