Scoring Issue

Good Afternoon,

I am working on creating some simulation based training projects that tests a user knowledge of our software. We want to use these simulations to assess the progress for installations and go-live dates. This part is fairily easily done.

When a someone answer a question incorrectly, I want to branch to another slide then let the user continue the quiz (correct answers just continue with the quiz). Again, no problem getting this part accomplished.

The problem arises with the scoring. If someone answers incorrectly and the branch occurs, then they automatically receive a zero for the quiz. Perhaps I have something setup incorrectly or maybe Captivate cannot handle branching within a quiz.

Also, when testing the email results feature, it generates 3 emails for each quiz in succession. Again, perhaps I have something set incorrectly, but it seems odd.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi ncfirst,

1. All the question slides in a captivate project contributes to the results, as they all are part of the same quiz. Note, captivate does not have multiple quizzes. So if, because of branching you do not visit to a question, that question is considered as not-answered, and you are given zero points for that.

Lets assume you have 5 questions with 10 points each, and you have set that to pass 80% marks are required. If because of branching you dont visit 2 of the questions, and answer rest of them correctly, then you will recieve 30 points. 30 out of 50, makes 60% and hence you fail.

2. For multiple emails, It seems if you have any non-question slides in between the questions slide, then captivate seems to send multiple emails. But if you have all the question slides together then the email is sent only once. I have already filed a bug for the same. :(

thanks
