Scoring Simulation Quiz

Hi All,

I have created several software simulation captivate quizzes. I have 5 slides, each worth 1 pt each if correctly answered (clicked) therefore the entire Captivate quiz should be worth 5 points.

One of the slides has two click boxes - both go to next slide if student successfully clicks (for example user can click on a top level menu item or an icon as correct responses).

I have tried multiple combinations of "Add to Total" "Track Score" and "Report Answer" without any luck. No matter what I do - it seems that the quiz scores 5 out of 6 (when user correctly answers all five slides)

I cannot get the slide to behave as a logical OR for scoring purposes by default it seems to behave as a logical AND - meaning the student needs to click on both click boxes on the single slide to receive full marks. I really want the scoring on that slide to behave such that if the user clicks on either one or the other click box a single point is awarded.

Any advice on how to accomplish this would be hugely appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Pam M

Thanks Webbo!
That is an interesting approach - I will keep it in my "back pocket" as a possible workaround in the future.
I appreciate the suggestion!

Thanks Jeff for the response but I tried this as well before and the score (%) is still incorrect. If they get all steps correct they still only receive 5 out of 6 (even if I don't display the "6" total points) and Captivate will display 83% as the total score.
The only work-around that I have found is to make the two click boxes (on the one slide) worth "0" points.
Thanks again for your idea,

Pam,

The answer may be in the display of the results rather than the click box choices.

Go to the slide that totals and displays the answers. Have checks in only Display Score and Display Number of Correct Questions and see if that gives what you want. If not, work with the combinations of check boxes.

I hope this works.

Pam,

I had a similar dilema in a recent assessment on a software application.

I figured out a workaround...although not ideal but it works!...

The way I got around it was to take a screenshot of the application and place numbers 1, 2 and 3 at the locations where they could click to achieve the process the question was asking them about (which is common in software programs where there are more than one way of doing things) Only 2 and 3 were correct.

Next I used a "Short answer" question and reduced the size of the input box and placed a question along the line of "Indicate one method of achieving x y z etc by entering the number below .. blah blah..>"

They needed to enter the number of their choice
In the properties of the question I added 2 and 3 numbers as an acceptable answer (each as separate entry). The question was worth 1 point.

This gives them the chance to make a choice of any of the 3 methods.

If you want me to send you the screen shot of what I mean I will do, let me know.
