I've been trying to use your Adobe Captivate 9 to record training videos.  I'm recording 5250 green screens. They are used with IBMi or OS400 software.

The video recording works good but does not have a pause function. Also the 5250 function keys don't work, you have to click them with a mouse. I'm ok with the function keys, I can work around that. I tried the Software simulation which has a pause, but it doesn't record green screen well. It's skips a lot the screen changes.

Our company has a LOT of your products.  Is Captivate 9  your best solution for recording screen captures?  Or is there another way to pause the Video Recording?

Will Captivate allow you to edit the MPG4 once completed? As I mentioned we have a LOT of your software, so maybe we have another Adobe option you could recommend.

    Maybe you misunderstand: this is mostly a user-to-user forum, I'm not working for Adobe at all.

    What do you want exactly: a pure video (passive) or an interactive simulation? It looks like you only want a video, hence you used the cpvc way (Video Demo).  My workaround for a pause during recording is to stop the recording, scroll to the end of the video in the video editor and start recording again.

    For a cptx-project (software simulations) you have the plus-value of being able to have interaction (training or assessment) which is missing from the Video demo. Did you check the quality? The big issue for having good quality is to avoid FMR slides, which I always replace by cpvc-slides, or at least set video to 32-bit instead of 16-bit in the Preferences, Project.

    The raw cpvc project can only be edited in the Video Demo editor, not in Premiere Pro. The published MP4 can of course be edited in Premiere Pro (or After Effects).

    The other video capturing software from Adobe is Video XPress, packed with Presenter.

    Alternative not of Adobe: Camtasia from TechSmith for pure video.

    My apologies, I did think this was Adobe support.....but I took your advise and got Presenter, seems to do the trick

    Indeed, for pure video it will probably be the best application.
