Screen resolution captures incorrectly with Dell E7450. Help!

Hi All-

We have some users of Captivate who were just given new computers, Dell E7450 touchscreen devices with WIN8.1 installed.

We are current users of Captivate 8.

The issue that we have run into is that when we attempt to capture using our preferences, the screens are changing resolutions on us.

Here's what is happening...

  1. User changes screen resolution to 1024x768 (applys and accepts change)
  2. Selects to capture Monitor 1, Full screen
  3. Starts recording; ends recording

When we look at the capture what we see is that the images captured do not show as 1024x768. There are large black borders on one or two sides, and the program that we are capturing show off to the left or right raised to a corner.

When we check the properties, this also shows that the resolution captured is not what we set the screen at (and still shows). It shows it changed to 1280 x 960.

Has anyone else had an experience like this and if so, how have you resolved this.

We have tried many options including changing to different resolutions, changing from capturing the screen to capturing the application (which shows the actual window too small to see the application), as well as adding an external monitor to see if a capture would work form there. Nothing seems to be working that we can think of.

Any thought or resolutions to try would be appreciated as we need to get our developers back working.

Thanks in advance!!

Correct answer ShariCenter

we were able to find a resolution to this issue thanks to Rick Stone...

The DPI needs to be set to 100%

apparently the default dpi was set at 150% so once we reset all worked as designed.

I'm guessing that some may see this thread and wonder who Rick Stone is and why there is no appearance by him.

I'm Rick Stone and I'm better known here as Captiv8r. I facilitated a class for these folks and in addition to posting here, they contacted me privately. I made a suggestion via the private contact that seemed to work.

Adding to this thread for clarification purposes.

Cheers... Rick

This is an example of what one of the captures looked like when captured. When viewed on screen this filled the entire screen at a resolution of 1024x768.
