Scrollbar in Captivate?

Hi all,

Is it possible to set up a scrollbar in Captivate 4? For instance, if you have text on one side of the slide that requires scrolling to see completely? I have seen this in a module built using Captivate before, but wasn't sure whether this is available out-of-the-box or if the creator had done some custom flash development. Any insight would be great.

Best regards,

Adam

Adam, I usually just fake the scrolling.  Let's say you have a text box and you can only see a third of the text at a time.  When I capture, I 1) press PrintScreen to capture the initial state of the text box.  Then I 2) click the down arrow at the bottom of the scrollbar so Captivate places a tidy little click box.  Then, WITH FULL MOTION DISABLED, I 3) drag the scroll bar till I can see the second third of the text.  Then I repeat the steps.\

For the published version, I prompt the user to click the button at the bottom of the scroll bar and the text 'magically' jumps down a third of the way, etc.

It took me a long time to accept that I develop interactive training that's emulation NOT simulation: the interactions don't always have to behave exactly.

Hope this helps. --Leslie

Hi there

If you use a Text Entry Box (TEB) you have an option to include a scrollbar.

However, you are normally soliciting input into these and comparing the input to a known value. From what you have described, I'm inferring that you are wanting a field that simply presents a lot of text and allows the user to scroll to view text that was out of view prior to scrolling, no? If so, you *MAY* still be able to use a TEB, but will need to experiment. There used to be limitations on the amount of text a TEB could store.

Cheers... Rick
