Separating quizzes within a course

I am using Captivate 3 and have created a course that has some 3 pre and post assessment. It also has progress review questions at the end of each unit.
I have created pools for each set (pre, post and each progress review question set). I want only the pre and post assessments to have a score. The progress should not be reported to LMS… only a total score displayed at the end.
How do I go about this? Please advise.

    No problem.

Captivate only allows one quizz report per project, so if you have 5 quizzes in one project, then all 5 quizzes will be reported on as if there was only one quizz. If you require seperate quizz result reports, then rather build a seperate project for each data set of content and quizz. This means that you can then set the results of the individual quizzes to allow the user to either progress to the next quizz or direct them to more content to study. In other words, you should view Captivate in a modular fashion and not try to do everything in one project.

In your case, I would set up each course as follows:
Project1 is the pre-assessment - Depending on the score and pass mark settings, the user could then automatically be directed to either the content (project2) or the post assessment (project3). The various options are all up to you as per your requirements.

Please post back with more detail if this is still not the complete answer or if you need more information.

Bala - this is what we do as well when we need to "test" various ways. Then we even have some that are "graded" but not scored per se so that they get feeback during the learning process and use branching.

Hi Bala and welcome to this community

For questions that you do not want included in the scoring process, just edit those questions one by one and under the "Question" tab you will find a box labelled "Points". Change the value to 0 and they will then not be added to the scoring process.

Your second question was about reporting to an LMS.
In the project menu, select Quizz/Quizz Preferences and the Preferences dialogue box will open with the Reporting node on the left highlighted. On teh right will be the Quizz reporting settings, just make sure that the "Enable Reporting for this Project" box is de-selected (not ticked). If you then select the "Settings" node on the left you will have a new group of settings on the right. Towards the bottom you will see "Show score at end of quizz", make sure this is selected and if you then click on the "Quizz Result Messages" button you will be able to define exactly what the user will see at the end of the quizz.

    Good luck

Thanks Andrew. However, when I use the Quiz Preferences to set Reporting preferences... it sets it globally. I need to have separate preferences for each set.
Also I see that the Quiz Resuts page appears at the end of all sets i.e. at the end of the final post-assessment.
I want to show the scores at the end of pre-assessment. If the learner has passed I want to provide them the option of skipping the content and directly proceeding to the post-assessment. On the other hand, if they fail they must go through the course content and answer the progress review questions (that are not tracked) before reaching the post-assessment.
Any help on how to go about this is very much appreciated.
