Seriously...has anyone EVER been able to download and run the trial Captivate software?

This has to be the MOST difficult trial software to download and open.  I have been trying for about two hours.  It downloads just fine, but won't run.  When I try to download the additional recommended file it says I have to put it in the same folder as the first folder, but that doesn't EVER appear in my download screen unless I'm not trying to do a SAVE AS, so I end up with a folder and a separate file.  I can't even drag the file to the folder - it just copies, but still tells me there's a file missing...I have NEVER had so much difficulty installing a program...is it easier to use than it is to download?  How the hell do I get it to work on my Windows 8.1 machine??
