Setting up for SCORM

Hi,

I've been using Authorware and Director for years creating the Elearning content, and we have decided to scrap Authorware as it has been discontinued and now we use Captivate 3.

Before I start a new project i would like to get some info please which will help reduce a bit of time.

I want to create a SCORM compliant Project, as we use Breeze at the moment for the Global LMS. I have a course that consists of 12 FLV movies which up to now are viewed via the intranet and work well, but of course we have no way to track who has viewed them..for how long etc...

I have tested the FLV files directly in Breeze, where it does record that the file has been viewed but it does not record if it was not fully watched or for how long etc. Converting the files to SWF wouldwork but then the files would be huge.

For speed, I want to place each FLV file into its own slide in Captivate, I've tested this and it works fine.

What would be the best setup here for the slides, so that if the user does not watch every slide then it will record as incomplete, and that i can report that the course was complete etc.

Any advise here would be grateful.

I'm off the the AdobeMax 2007 in Barcelona on the 15th, but unfortunately it doesn't prove courses for Elearning Modules, whic would have been excellent.

I have another question but will ask it seperately

The answer depends on whether you want user interaction at the end of each slide. If you do want user interaction, include a button that says Click Here or Next or whatever. Make sure in the Reporting tab of the New Button dialog box that you select Include in Quiz and Report answers. On the Button tab, set On success to Continue or Go to Next Slide. In Options, make sure you set a Pause after time. If you want to give users the option of pressing Enter, Tab, or a different key, assign that key as a shortcut.

If you do not want user interaction, add a click box to each slide. Make it small and put it in an out-of-the-way place on the slide. Same Reporting tab settings. On the Click Box tab, set On success to No Action. On the Options tab make sure that Pause project until user clicks is NOT selected. This way, the click box does not impede the progress of the slide, but the project still registers as incomplete if all slides with click boxes have not been viewed.

I haven't tried this in Captivate 3, but it worked for me in versions 1 and 2.
