Shapes used as buttons loosing the Action set

Hi

The buttons I have created link perfectly and jump to slides on Friday but by today, none of the them are working.  This keeps happening and I have no idea why.

I created my own shape and clicked 'use as button'.  It should then jump to a slide.

That is all it needs to do.

Also, Adobe is not saving correctly, Save As does not work and the 'save' button actually do anything so each time I need to save any changes I am Save As with the date and current time.

I expect it is all related.

My IT department have checked for Adobe Updates within the system options but there aren't any.

Please help, I am loosing my mind and the eLearning needs to be finished.

Thanks

Kat

It is 11.8.1.219 probably? You didn't really need to update to that version, it has some issues which is the reason I keep a system with 11.5.5.553.

You have a custom style for the forward button, probably within your custom theme. Was that custom theme created or upgraded to the present version you are using? I am still worried about the fact that you can use only 'Save as' for the project. Did you ever clean the Preferences in Captivate?

You do use a simple action for that button, which has an instance on each slide (my suspicion). Are those actions lost when you save? Or is it a problem with the Advanced action (which I didn't see yet)?

You suspect a problem with the multiple names for the buttons, is there a reason why you opted for an instance on each slide instead of using a shape button on the master slide(s)? Do you need a lot of Next buttons which do not navigate to the next slide?

    Hi Kat!

Just a couple of ideas and questions. Are you saving in the default path set up in Preferences, and is that path on your system (I mean not on a networked drive)? The symptoms you mention seem to point to a saving problem.

Is this project based on a template (cptl-file)?  I sincerely hope not, because that workflow has serious bugs although it is still available. Especially since you are talking about actions and custom buttons.

Which exact version are you using? The full version number please, as can be found under Help, About Captivate. And which OS?

    Hi Lilybiri

The file is saved on my local drive as I learned a long time ago that it doesn't work if you save it on a server.

    Version is 2019 11.8.2019

I created my own theme and my own buttons to use by creating a shape.

    Attached is the OS information.

I wondered if there was a limit to the button names.

In the background I have created advanced actions so once the slides have been visited the main page shows the buttons as completed.

Thanks so much for the quick response.
