Question

Should I avoid smart shapes completely if using scalable HTML content?

Hi there,

I've made several modules of a course at 1024x768px but have since found we need it to be accessible on iPad/tablet devices and this is too big to fit on the screen without scrolling. To go through and resize everything in the course would take longer than the time I have available, so I have tried using the 'scalable HTML content' option when publishing the course. This seems to work well size-wise, but I'm having problems with smart shapes.

I read that using smart shapes as buttons can cause issues on an iPad with scalable content, so I've changed them so they're not used as buttons - they are now just smart shapes with a click box over the top. But if I try to click on the click box the whole course/browser crashes.

So does that mean I shouldn't use smart shapes at all for scable content, even if they're not used as buttons?

I have the latest version of Captivate (7.0.1) and it did say this issue would be fixed in this patch, but it doesn't seem to be.

If I can't use smart shapes, does anyone have any ideas how I can make my course fit to an iPad screen without having to go through and move all the elements to fit them in? I've tried the rescale option but it seems to reduce the quality of everything.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
