Question

Simple Countdown on one slide with a stop count down action

Dear Gurus.

Please advise how I can achieve this solution.

I have a simple 4 slide presentation/game

My first is an intro with a start quiz button.

My second is a preview of the completed quiz lasting 15 seconds

My third has a drag and drop quiz (some 28 objects). Upon entry to the slide, I need a Countdown counter to trigger and count down from :59 seconds.

My fourth is simply a means of going back to slide one so I can start over.

Upon successful completion of all drag and drop actions (on slide 3), I need my user to hit a button (which appears after successful completion of all drag and drop objects) which will stop the countdown revealing the time the user has left to complete the quiz and hence the score they have achieved.

Incidently, upon reaching time out, the quiz should stop by moving to the next page.

I have signed up for and downloaded the TLC countdown model (cp-Custom-5.js) tested it but regret that I have not been able to invoke the Java Script, some of the locations indicated in the companion Word doc have not maniefested in my system.

I would be extremely grateful for recommendations.

Kindest Regards

Niel

    Thankyou

I have resolved the technical Issue. The cause of the problem was the Widget not functioning properly in Chrome, so I have modified the presentation to work without the Widgets.

    Thankyou for your responses.

I over come the problem in two ways.

    1. I used the (built in Interactions) Timer Widget (the blue box one) to control the page actions, ie. after x seconds the presentation advances to the next page.

    2. I used a series of advance actions using the cpInfoElapsedTimeMS as per LilyBiri Blog - Very elegant, thanks.

So my interactive presentation works perfectly, In Preview! The Widgets do not function (or even exist in the published version)

    Any suggestions please?

Did you upload to a webserver and test that way?

Are you using SWF or HTML5?

What part of the timer is not working?

You will not be able to jump past the quiz if the timer runs out unless you allow the user to skip questions.

I am using the HTML5 Although I also confess that I do not understand the difference yet.

It is clear that the Java script is not being invoked which suggests that Captivate can't see it.

The /js/ location in the folder system did not exist as per your example so I created it. Further, I am on Captivate 8 rather than 7 as in your example.

Did you never try the Hourglass or timing interaction?

Can you please send me a like to where I can learn this feature, maybe this will be simpler to implement. Will I get the time left after I hit the stop?

I didn't write a tutorial for those interactions, but this one about the older timer widget can give you an idea about what is possible:
