Why when i record simulations does a whole new project open up in captivate 9

What do you mean? Either you start a new simulation project from the

welcome screen or you insert Software simulation slides, using the Big

Button Slides in an existing project. That last work flow will limit the

possibilities: same resolution as project and only one mode possible.
