Six Extra Files Created When Opening Project in Captivate 8

Why, when I open a Captivate 8 project, do 6 other files with these folders: db, mb, mt, and pb open as well? It's never done this to me with my older versions. What setting do I need to change to keep this from happening?

    Whoa! Danger Will Robinson! Danger!

    The names of these folders that you're quoting are the names of folders that would only normally appear inside a project cache folder.


    Where are you storing your CPTX project files?  You're not by any chance placing them in the same folder as the one listed as the Captivate Project Cache folder under Preferences > Default Locations are you?  If by some chance you ARE doing that then you need to immediately close down your projects and move any CPTX files OUT of that folder and place them in another folder somewhere on your local hard drive.

    If you ever hit the Clean Cache button inside Preferences in Captivate, all folders and files inside the project cache folder would be deleted.  Quite a few Captivate authors have lost their entire projects this way.

      Thanks, RodWard! But, unfortunately, I'm not placing the cptx files  in the same folder as the one listed in my project cache folder. So, what ELSE could be causing this?
