Slide Counter always reads slide 1

I am using the newest update for Captivate 9. I am trying to insert a slide counter so I can send my project to colleagues to run a beta test for me. I have inserted a smart shape and then typed "slide:" I then inserted the variable "cpInfoCurrentSlide". The Smart shape is visible in preview next 5 slides but always shows "slide: 1" irrelevant of what slide it is actually situated on. Originally I copied and pasted the shape from slide one and thought that might be the problem but i have since created new shapes and filled in with formulas on individual slides and still had no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Its a reactive project and I just previewed "Next 5 slides" I'll try previewing in Scorm now

A responsive project! You need to use Preview Project. SCORM Cloud is fine if it is defined as a SCO, which means reporting is turned on.

Did you insert the variable using the X-button in the Character part of the Properties panel of the shape? It looks like :

      $$cpInfoCurrentSlide$$

No need to copy/paste to each slide. Change its duration in the Timing Properties to 'Rest of Project' and check the option 'Always on top'. Another approach could be to put the shape on the main master slide.

    You are on 9.0.2.437?

My IT guy said we got the latest update yesterday but its actually only 9.0.2.1

I did use the x button. I tried to change the duration to "Rest of Project" but it only showed "Slide:1" so I thought I would try copy/paste; it still showed "Slide:1" so I tried to do it completely manually and it stilled showed "Slide:1"

I asked about the X because variables are case sensitive, to be sure you had no typo.

How did you test? Did you use Preview in Browser or Preview HTML5 in Browser if this is a normal project?
