Slide Displays Indefinitely Until Action Is Taken

Hi,

I have several slides in my Captivate project that have "Go back" and "Continue" buttons on them, which take the user back or progress them as appropriate.

The slide(s) have a number of rollovers on them, so the user can rollover an area of an image (of an application that I'm training on), and another image will appear showing what happens on that particular area, along with some audio.

I don't want to interrupt the user happily looking at the rollovers, so I don't want the slide to progress to the next one until the user clicks the "continue" button.

Any ideas how to do this? Sorry, I'm only learning still :-)

Thanks in advance,

Lisa Jane

Hi Lisa Jane

You will laugh when you read this. Why? Because you have answered your own question!

If you re-read what your first sentence says, you will see that on some slides, you are using buttons. And a button or click box is exactly what you need in this case.

This is because the default nature of a button or click box is to pause the movie until the user interacts with it. As you mention that the "continue" button doesn't seem to be pausing, you should probably investigate the properties. Just double-click the button object and inspect its properties. Particularly Options tab. Make sure you have a check mark in the "Pause after" check box. Beyond that, it's purely timing and placement.

Cheers... Rick
