Question

Slide Navigation

I have a 6 slide project, using Captivate 4, and am trying to get slides 2-6 to go back to slide 1 when that slide is complete.  I have set the slide navigaton to jump to slide 1 but when I preview/publish the project, it just stops when the slide is done.  It doesn't go back to the 1st slide.  I created the slide as a blank project.

Has this happened to anyone else?  Is there something that I am missing?

It does not appear to be an issue with the swf files on the slides.  I just did a blank project with 3 slides - just a comment box on each labeling the slide for me.  On the 1st slide I had buttons going to the other 2 slides.  Slides 2-3 were set to go to Slide 1 on exit.  I go to slide 2 and it stops at the end of it.  I have to click Play again to get it to go back to slide 1.

Maybe I am just expecting it to work more seamlessly than it really does??

You have to have Flash player 10 - I was working with 9........

How about inserting a Button or Click Box so the user can navigate back to slide 1? Label it "Home" or "Main Menu" to indicate where they go if they click it.

I could add another button, but I really didn't want to.  I wanted it to be more seamless.  This is the first one that I have done like this and since the navigation was there to do so, I thought I'd give it a try.  The only thing I can think of that is making it not work is that each slide plays a .swf file and there is something in the .swf file that is preventing it from 'ending' the slide.  (It's a FAQ page, they click a question, it takes them to a slide that plays a .swf file that answers the question, and I then want it to go back to the home page.  The player is below the question list so it looks like they never leave the page - the movie is just different based on what question they select).

I'm beginning to wonder if I needed to so something differently when I published the other files to .swf - if there is something that I didn't do that is making the slide not continue when put into this FAQ project.

You inserted an swf on slide 2 - 6. I bet that your slides are paused to show that swf right? How will the user "unpause" the slide again after they are done viewing the swf? The Slide Navigation is something that occurs when the slide plays all the way to the end. If your slides are paused then it will never reach the end and therefore never execute the jump to slide command.

Normally swf's doesn't pause Captivate slides unless that functionality has specifically been built into the swf.
