Slide Video error

Question

I recently learned about the ability to distribute a video across slides and am trying that feature, but I'm having a serious issue. In the past, I imported a video and added it to a slide as "Event Video". No problem. If I add the same video to a slide as "Slide Video", I get the error "Video encountered internal error".I click OK and keep working. If I change to Slide Video and "Distribute video across slides", I get the same error and Captivate locks up. I made sure the video uses the H.264 codec.

I sent the same CPT and video files to two of my colleagues, and everything worked for them. We are all using Windows 10 laptops but with different hardware. (I believe mine is the only one with a discrete GPU.) I ran the program for driver and BIOS updates; all good there.

If anyone has suggestions on how to resolve this, I would love to hear them.

Captivate is not taking advantage of the GPU like some other Adobe applications, which means I doubt that this could be at the origin of your problem. All my systems have a discrete GPU.

Worth trying - although I doubt this will fix the issue - is to re-encode the MP4 to H264 using the Adobe Media Encoder which was installed when you installed Captivate. Are you sure your OS and the Captivate version are compatible?

If I understand correctly you are able to insert the video as Event video. Is this a non-responsive project? Event video plays independently of Captivate's timeline, whereas slide video is synchronized. Can you try to clean the Preferences and clear the cache? See:
