Slide video versus video object

The documentation is unhelpful, but it appears that MP4 video is imported as slide video, while Flash video is imported as a video object, with player controls.  The documentation says nothing about this

How can I get my MP4 video to play like that?  Can I convert it to Flash video, and if so, how?

You can insert the mp4 as event video, and it will be converted to flv by the Adobe Media Encoder.

But does that make it a video object?  How do you convert a slide video to a video object?

Got it to work.  Seems to work differently in Mac and Windows.
