Question

Slidemaster

I finished a new project in Captivate 5, which worked well. Now, I would like to add our company logo to the header and some stuff in the footer. I thought, I could use the slide master to add this masterslide to every film slide. But I have no idea how to do that... Can I import a PPT slide with the needed Logo etc. and define these as slidemaster and connect it to all of the existing slides in the project?

Thanks for all help from a testing newbie 🙂

Hello,

It would be better (for quality reasons) to insert the graphics (images) you need for the logo, add Text Captions etc to the Master slide itself in Captivate. Do not think it is a good idea to import a PPT-slide for this goal.

Will try to explain the workflow:

  • Open the Master slide panel (menu Window, Master slide). This panel will be docked at the bottom (where the Timeline panel is) and be in focus. If you look at the Properties panel (right dock) you'll see that the object is now 'Master slide'
  • You have one blank master slide on the stage now, not a real slide. You can insert whatever you want on this blank master slide such as p.e. an image (accepts all kinds of graphic formats like JPG, PNG, ...); the inserted images will also appear in the Library panel (right dock, normally stacked with the Properties panel)
  • I'd recommend to label your Master slide, especially if you want to have more than one master slide (labeling can be done in the upper region of the Properties panel at the right).
  • When you have finished your Master slide, select a slide in the Filmstrip. In the Properties panel you'll see that the object is now a slide. You'd better put the Timeline again in focus in the bottom panel dock.
  • The slide that was in focus when you switched to the Master slides will have gotten automatically the Master slide applied. You'll see this in its Properties panel, region 'General'. You can select all the slides you want the Master slide to be applied to (in the Filmstrip, extending the selection p.e. with SHIFT or CTRL combi), and choose the Master slide in the Properties panel, region General.

Hope this helps,
