Question

Slides skip during playback

I have shot a few simulations of different tasks in our GUI, and I've noticed that on playback after publishing (both in review after publishing and as a flashfile on our server) certain slides play quickly through. These slides have either a button, text field or a click box, but the slide doesn't pause long enough for the user to interact. I've tested this with others and they've seen the same thing. I've also checked the project settings and the settings for the slide and each and every element on the slide and I can't find anything that could be attributed as a cause to this error. Can someone help me solve this issue PLEASE.

Thanks much in advance.

I am having the same issue. We were told by Adobe it might be because we save to a server, however now I am saving and publishing to my desktop and still have the skipping issue.

I have recreated my demos, I have changed the fps to 15, I have checked timings, I have made sure I am publishing to Flash Player 7 to be safe and STILL SKIPPING.

    HELP!!

    Welcome to our community, cskifstad

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, have you ensured the browser playing the content has been equipped with a recent version of the Flash Player, Control or Plug In?

    Hi Rick,

We currently have Flash Player 8 on our computers.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to our community, Natalie

Have you tried ensuring the Flash plug-in/control whatever for the browser you are using is up to date? I believe I've seen others report similar issues when this is the case.

    Cheers... Rick

    Thanks for the reply rick.

I tried reinstalling the flash player plug in, and I'm still seeing the error. I also tried this in IE 7.0 as well as Firefox 3.0

If you want to take a look at my movie here it is:

The error occurs about 3-4 slides in as you follow the instructions.

    Hi,

I'm not saying this is a solution but it may work. I had a similar problem with a few slides skipping, for no apparent reason. This was evident when I left the default frame rate in Captivate to 30 (30fps).

I recently attended an adobe Flash course and the advice I was given there on frame rates was this "The standard frame rate for film is 24fps, for graphic animation that is going out over the web/browser 12 fps is a good lowest common denominator setting (also default for Flash). For web/browser work consider a frame rate between 10 and 15 fps, ,dependant on the speed of connection of your target audience".

As all of my work is for an online LMS and internal intranet, I set all my captivate projects to 15 fps and have not had a skip problem so far.

Give it a try. It may work.

Change the frame rate on the project settings. (try it with a COPY of your original file first, so as not to mess things up)
