smart shape and changing shape, Captivate 8

When capturing a demo, I want the smart shape to be the oval callout, but that is not an option in preferences.Instead I'm getting a cloud callout. Is there a way to set up preferences for the oval callout?

Is it possible to change a cloud callout to a round corner rectangle?

Thanks for clarifying the automatic shapes during capture. The rounded rectangle works well.

The second part of my question . . .

Once a shape is on the slide, if I want to change it to an entirely different shape, it doesn't seem possible. For example, if I start with a cloud shape, in the Properties panel there is a choice of 3 other shapes I can change it to. But how can I change it to a completely different shape, for instance change a cloud into an arrow?

It seems like that was possible in previous versions, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

Each shape can be converted to another shape or a freeform shape, use the right-click menu. And that is the same work flow as I used in 7..

    Hi there

Indeed there is. First, click the Cloud callout to select it.

Then, look at the properties panel and click the down arrow next to the callout. You should see a pop up listing the one you want. Just click to select it.

In the popup list, not all the shapes are listed, only the few that are related to cloud. For example, I don't see any arrows or the star.

I prefer not to have to change a shape after the project slides have been captured. But in modes preferences, only 4 categories are listed: rectangle, rounded rectangle, oval, and cloud. If I choose Cloud, when I do screen captures I get the standard puffy cloud shape. I want to use the oval callout shape.

And it looks like the specific shape cannot be built into the default smart shape object style.

Is it possible to set a default shape to be used for screen captures?

For arrows, you must first choose a basic Left, Right, Up or Down arrow and you will see arrow options.

For the Star and the Trapezoid, those are available off the main Shapes button.
