Smart Shape Buttons - slow to acknowledge user interaction

Hi all,

I've added some smart shape boxes to my project to use as check boxes. I've changed the visited state to show a green tick (a .png image). However I've noticed that sometimes it takes an age for the button to register that my cursor is over it (the rollover state should grey out the button), during which it doesn't register any clicks.

I'm not sure if any of the following is relevant but it's an 80 slide project, uploaded to the latest version of moodle as a scorm 1.2 zip file. It's in HTML5 and it is scalable, we're not currently using fluid boxes.

My initial though was am I just clicking through the slides too fast and captivate hasn't had time to load properly but I'm not sure. I've only been using captivate for about a month so I'm most certainly a beginner.

Any help/tips would be much appreciated.

Matt

Do you mean shape buttons, smart shapes used as buttons?

I would never use rescaling projects, because of the loss of quality, but that is off topic. It could be fine when using only laptops and tablets, but not if you expect also the use of smartphones.

Are those shape buttons timed for the rest of the project or just for one slide, or do you use them on master slides?

Can you post a screenshot of the Object State panel? Since you talk about 'Visited' state, if you point to the InBuilt states, I presume that you are using CP2017, can you confirm, please?

I always use shape buttons, very rarely other types of buttons (except for the embedded buttons on Quiz slides which cannot be shape buttons).

Hi Lilybiri, thanks for replying.

Yes that's right smart shapes used as buttons.

The shape buttons are timed for just the one slide, to appear after 0s with no 'Pause after...' time set. I can confirm I am using CP2017.

Here is the Object State Panel.

Here is a screenshot of it on the slide it's the square box. I've also highlighted an Untick shape button. This has the same problem, you have to position the mouse pointer right at the bottom, literally on what must be the border of the shape, to get it to perform the action.

Do you think the rescaling could be causing a problem? Although I anticipate the course will be used mainly on laptops or tablets.

Thanks again,

Matt

What is the action performed by the shape button? I would not use shape button for such a goal, but that is another question. There is a checkboxes interaction, are you aware of that?

BTW This would not be possible in normal Fluid Boxes.
