Smart Shape ID

I've created a "Smart Shape (Button)" - now I want to set the Visible(show/hide) of that shape via an advanced action - however there are 50+ Smart Shapes to choose from in the menu ie. smartshape_77 - how do I know which Smart Shape it is as I can't seem to find it's ID anywhere in the peoperties window.

Thanx

Yes you are both correct - however when you place a SmartShape on a master slide there is no way it seem to distinguish what it is. I was trying to place a smart shape on a master and only have it show at certian times. It seems that this is not possible.

    Hello,

It would be easier if you had told that before. That was one of my first feature requests when I did saw the possiblities of the smart shapes: to get an ID when they are on a master slide. But it didn't make it in this release, an object on a master slide has never an ID, can never be addressed by an (advanced) action for Show/Hide. I could get the possibility to pause if the shape is on a Master slide and used as a button, that one made it (I'm on the prerelease), but the ID-request not.

However (as usual) I have a workaround: if you need to control an object on some slides, put it on the first slide and time it for the rest of the project. As I wrote in my previous answer, in that case it has a unique ID. I blogged about the possibilities of shapes used as buttons in a recent articles:

Lieve is right. What you see in the menu is actually the unique name assigned to each object on slides.

So, if you check any of your smart shape properties, you would find the name at the top.

    Thanks,

There is some misunderstanding, I think. An object gets its ID when it is inserted on a slide, that is the case for buttons, text captions and also for Smart Shapes. You talk about hiding/showing with advanced actions: if the shape is timed for the rest of the project it will have an unique ID, and can easily be shown/hidden by an advanced action on any slide. However if you copy/paste the same smart shape to another slide, it will have a different ID. This has nothing to do with the different forms you'll find in the Shapes insert panel.
