Smartshapes as button - not working ?

Hello,

Captivate noob here, so please excuse me if this is a simple question.  I have a number of Smartshapes on my slides that I want to use as buttons to progress the slideshow to the next page.  The buttons are there, on the page, the 'Use as Button' box is checked, and the action set to 'Progress to next slide', but in preview, when I press the buttons nothing happens, and I have to go to the playbar in order to get the slide to progress.  I'm having similar issues with a Smartsahpe button not executing advanced actions when clicked too.

Could anyone give me a clue as to what is going on ?

Using Windows 7 and Captivate 8.

Thanks.

Correct answer Lilybiri

Please, upgrade ASAP to 8.0.1.242. If my memory is correct, there were problems with shape buttons for responsive projects in the first version. No guarantee, worth trying.

Besides the question by Rod, have some more to get clarification:

  1. Are you using the latest version 8.0.1.242?
  2. Is this a normal or a responsive project?
  3. How did you 'preview'? Reason of this question is that in the Preview list, you also have 'Play Slide' which is NOT a preview, your shape buttons will not be functional at all. Best Preview is Preview in Browser (F12 for SWF output) or Preview in HTML Browser i(F11) for HTML output. For a responsive project: Preview, Project, or using Edge Inspect

Hi Lily,

(1) I'm using version 8.0.0.145.

(2) Responsive

(3) I've been using 'Preview' > 'Project' to preview.

Thanks,

JL

Are you publishing to HTML5?

What browser are you using?

Hi Rod,

Thanks for the reply.  I'm using Chrome Version 43.0.2357.130 m.

So far I'm not publishing to HTML5, but I will be doing eventually.  I'm looking at this via the 'Preview' button, and selecting 'Project' when I do.
