So under TEB, what's [ ] Retain Text supposed to do?

I've played with a Text Entry Box and HTML5 Output to Browser with [ ] Retain text checked, and then with it unchecked. I can't see the difference. The only thing I can find in helpx.adobe.com is https://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/text-entry-boxes.html , and it only says to check it. Nothing about its purpose.

I still don't know how to make my stupid questions GO AWAY here, when I figure it out for myself  2 minutes later!

 

FYI... it's: do you want the TEB to retain the text the user has typed into the TEB, if the user leaves the "slide" and goes backs to it.

If you don't check that option, the text in the TEB typed in by the learner will have disappeared if you return to the slide.
