So if I have a captivate 8 monthly subscription, how do I upgrade to 9? I can't find any info on this.

All you need to do is download Captivate 9 and then log in with your subscription details. This will activate the trial version to a full version.

After seeing this post I called Adobe directly.

They said that "They have no information on CP9 or it's release date and it is not expected to be released/promoted any time soon." <-- direct quote

So either they are lying to me, so I buy CP8 (which is entirely possible), or they were lying to "dhark" and his original post, or his information was inaccurate... and to my knowledge, Adobe isnt in the habit of calling people to tell them about new software releases and dates. At least they have never called me or anyone I know and I've been at this 20 years.

His post was on June 10th, 2015 and says they told him it would be out in a month. Well it's August now and Adobe knows nothing about CP9 or any release date.

If you google "Adobe Captivate 9" all you get is information for CP8. No information exists anywhere online that I could find for CP9. If you go to Adobe's site, which is where they promote everything they have or will have soon, nothing exists for CP9 nor does it even mention it.

    So you decide

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING PURCHASING CAPTIVATE TO BUILD COURSES.  DON’T!

I have found so many issues using captivate to build courses. For starters, if you purchase let’s say Captivate 8, did you know that adobe won’t continue to update Captivate 8 when Captivate 9 comes out, even if you purchase Captivate 8 less than 90 days ago. If you purchase any version of captivate as soon as the next version releases you will NEVER get another update on that version of captivate again. Which could be critical if a browser like Chrome changes the way it reads HTML5 coding, you are stuck with the old version that doesn’t show up properly in the new released browsers since captivate doesn’t update the old versions. Basically Adobe will never update any version they have made including their previous version if they released a newer version. THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING CAPTIVATE! OR BE PREPARED TO SPEND HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO KEEP UPGRADING TO EACH NEW VERSION TO GET UPDATES!

    Hi SBHSdrama‌,

I've also found many issues with Captivate 8. Keen to share your stories? Not recommending Captivate 8 for use on mobile devices

If version 9 does come out, will an upgrade from 7 to 9 be possible?

    It's late July!!!

I know there's an LMS coming out, so maybe that's holding things back, but could it be? No new Captivate this year?

Just received a marketing call today from Adobe in which the person mentioned that "Captivate 9 would be released in a month".

When I asked about new features he was reluctant to say more that it would be released in a month.

    And so it goes...

I am hoping it has far more stable HTML 5 functionality.

I would like it to be able to pause the HTML 5 animations like it did with SWF files.

Also would like it to not always go on the very top layer of the slide no matter where you place it on the timeline as this makes most of the captivate functionality object redundant.

Ill keep a close eye out for C9.

    Thanks
