Software simulation - Missing text entry boxes

Hi,

Based on older posts in here, I can see that some of you got problems with missing text entry boxes when you record software simulation (training and assessment).

I also got these headaches.

I discovered that the problem also is present in Captivate 9. But last week it hit me, that it could be something to do with installed security software and/or Windows updated. Therefore I decided to install Adobe Captivate on multiple computers with different Windows versions. 7, 8.0, 8.1 and Windows 10. (32, 64 bit, Professional and Home Edition.

It seems to be a Windows KB that blocks the possibility to record entries. When I run Captivate 8 and 9 on a Windows 7 without the latest updates (185 updates behind) it still works.

For me it makes sense, because that all CP is basically doing when recording text entry boxes is key logging.

I would like to hear if my thoughts are nonsense before I go further with my manually uninstall of every single installed Windows KB's.

/Jacob

I am experiencing the same issue on Windows 10 x64 OS Build 14393.726 using Adobe Captivate 9.0.2.437.

Hi Ratwood. Are you running Windows (7,8 or 9) or Mac?

Having the same problem with a company laptop.  Works great on my personal desktop.  Solution would be greatly appreciated.

I think Jacob's original idea it probably correct.  If the issue is only occurring on Windows OSs that have received some recent Windows Updates, then the explanation would be that Microsoft has instituted some security patch to disable capture of text entry boxes, likely in an attempt to prevent hackers building tools that use a similar method to capture people's login details or passwords etc.

This is one of those questions where we really need an Adobe staffer to chime in on the forum and confirm whether or not they are aware of such an issue.  If capturing TEBs is now crippled by certain OS updates, telling the community they're onto it would save us all running around trying to find a reason.

Hi Jacob, I am running across the same problem. I am recording a browser based cloud software in Captivate 9 and it is capturing all of the fields as typing instead of text entry requiring user input to move forward. Adobe support just says, well it may not work with all software, but cloud based browser software is very common and and IMO it shyould at least work with a browser. I cant imagine having to manually drag every text field onto the screen post recording. If so i'm going to have to move to a new software. Did you find a fix and if so could you share please. Thank you in advance.
