Question

SQL-server and Captivate app (PhoneGap)

I have a similar question using Captivate 9 which I'm using to create a phone app. I need to integrate with a MS SQL DB for checklists and registration using username (email) and password, as well as notes.

I want to ensure that Captivate 9 -- which has responsive design and can be used with phone gap, can in fact integrate with SQL server for specific screens/types of information.

Thank you for any information.

Mary

Mary, I put your question in a new thread, because it was not really linked with the topic of that old thread where you posted this question.

I cannot help you, because you are asking for a sort of hybrid app. The app created with PhoneGap from Captivate cannot report to a SCORM LMS, so this will need a lot more expertise than just Captivate knowledge.

My plan is to do the initial build using Captivate 9, then working with a contractor, for the screens needing integration with our SQL database. If Captivate does not allow for programming ... or a way to integrate with a SQL database  -- not a LSM -- then I will need to look at another solution.

(I am now revisiting whether this project needs to be hybrid or web app ... not sure if this has application to the response.)

thanks for any thoughts on this topic

The answer to this question really depends on the skills of your chosen programmer / developer.

Technically almost anything is possible with internet technologies if your people have the right skillsets.

So I suggest you need to do some simple tests first to find out whether your people are up to the task.  I don't believe the limitation will really be the Captivate output since it will be comprised of HTML5 code.  A good programmer should be able to hook into this and pull data for integration with a database.

Only your testing will tell you whether or not the effort required to do all this is really going to be worth it.  Nobody on this user forum will be able to give you a definitive answer.
