Question

start button for quiz does not work

I have a complicated issue that I am having a hard time troubleshooting for a client.  Let me give you all the information.  The client had us translated Captivate course from English to multiple other languages.  When we originally did this earlier this year it worked, there were issues we had to figure out but the courses worked and the quiz functioned fine.

Fast forward to today, they have decided to upgrade to Internet Explorer 11 and needed us to remove a browser detection script they added.  We have removed the script and are now testing in their SABA environment.  The courses play fine until your reach the quiz.  When you get to the start button for the quiz that is when things fail.  When we click on the start button nothing happens and there are no errors that are reported.

The funny thing is if you run the course outside the SABA environment on the same computer everything works fine.  I have emulated IE 10 and IE 9, the button works fine.  I have checked the code and everything seems fine, I have tried testing on our system an I cannot recreate this issue.  I am trying to fin the next step and also see if anyone else has seen this issue before.  Is this something anyone has heard of?  If so what did you do to fix this?

I suggest you get your client's IT people involved in the issue.  They have probably implemented IE11 with certain security settings that are not allowing the LMS to receive the interaction data from the quiz.  You can try sending them a sample SCORM with Interaction Data turned off in Quiz > Reporting and maybe even use the SendDataAtEnd SCORM template to see if this allows the quiz to be at least initiated by the learner.

If it turns out that the client's IE browser settings are interferring with the LMS interaction then the client will need to consider changing them.

You could also try uploading the same course SCORM to SCORM Cloud online LMS and get the client's people to check whether that LMS plays the content fine in IE11 with their current settings.  If it does, then something may also need to be done about their own LMS.  Perhaps it has issues with IE11 too.

Thank you for your suggestions.  I have tested the course in SCORM Cloud on their system and it does not work when running IE 11.  Their IT department is notoriously hard to get on the phone, however they are supose to be updating the flash version on the computer today, so maybe that will make a difference.  Right no I am trying to recreate the issue on our local system.

Do you know if there are any settings that would prevent old versions of ActiveX to not work on a computer?  I have scoured everything I can find but I have not found anything easy that I could change that would prevent old versions of ActiveX.

There are browser security settings in IE that would stop ActiveX from working.  Get them to check those settings.
