  1. Is it possible to import stereo files to Captivate 4 files?

  2. What file types are acceptable?

  3. Assuming the listener’s computer has a sound card that can accommodate stereo; will they hear it in stereo?

  4. Is it a best practice to have only one (1) sound file per slide?

    Hi there

It's been a long while since I tested this. I think it was perhaps in version 2. Anyhoo, I've uploaded a Stereo Test file for you to try. I'm not sure if it still holds true, but my last test seemed to indicate that it was somewhat hardware dependent upon the result you saw. My desktop system at the time would import the stereo file and play back in stereo. But my laptop at the time converted the same file to mono.

I think the conclusion I reached was that Your Mileage May Vary.

File types are WAV and MP3. To my knowledge, these are the only audio file types Captivate understands.

Yes, assuming your hardware allows you to publish the Captivate where Stereo is included, I do believe the end user will hear in Stereo.

Assuming audio is narration and will exist at the slide level, you may only have a single audio file per slide. But you may also have audio associated with other slide elements. "Best practice" depends on what you are hoping to achieve.

    Cheers... Rick
